George Markakis, Law Clerk

George has significant experience clerking at both a private law firm and for a Cook County circuit court judge. He has conducted extensive legal research and crafted well-reasoned memos, briefs, and opinions to assist in the legal decision-making process. He has also contributed to analyzing and evaluating legal arguments and applying relevant statutes, case law, and legal principles. While in college, George was an active member of his school’s Finance and Management Association.

 

George is pursuing his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Illinois – Chicago School of Law, where he has actively participated in the Dean Frossard Student Advisory Board, the Corporate Law Society, and the International Business and Trade Law Society. Additionally, he is a member of the Hellenic Bar Association and is proficient in Greek.

 

George earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations with a focus on international economics and a certificate in National Security from Florida International University, where he graduated magna cum laude. George was selected to participate in an international program aimed at enhancing the safety of both tourists and local residents within a geographic region, while simultaneously fostering economic growth. Unfortunately, the program was unable to proceed during the Covid-19 outbreak.

 

George’s interests include literature, football, and travel. In his free time, he coaches football, where he instructs and mentors young athletes in the sport.
